-Dear Zachary (I had to stop the DVD for an hour, if you have seen the movie, you know exactly which part)
-Pixote
-Somewhere in Time (the ending)
-Little Big Man (the Indian massacre scene was the first time I cried at a movie...I was in elementary school)

Movies that made me cry....two and for different reasons.

#1
In the Abyss a husband is pounding on his wife's chest to restore her breathing. They were separating and the only reason he is alive is that he can't let go of her - the wedding ring he refused to take off allowed him to keep a door opening. Now she has drowned and...gotta IMDB

Virgil: Goddammit, you bitch! You never backed away from anything in your life! Now fight!
[slaps Lindsey]
Virgil: Fight!
[slaps Lindsey again]
Virgil: Fight! Right now! Do it! Fight goddammit! Fight! Fight! Fiiiiight!

Just typing this out...I cried a little. It's the undiluted essence of what love is - you never stop fighting even when it seems hopeless.

#2
I wanted to take a friend of mine to a movie, let him pick, and to prove how much a buddy I am I actually paid for and sat through Jason Friedberg's and Aaron Seltzer's latest shitpile - Vampire's Suck.

Sweet Jesus, will someone please fucking assassinate them already! It's Twilight meets 100 pop culture references that make no sense. There are three laughs maybe in the entire thing and I'm sorry but constant references to other things aren't parody's - they aren't even jokes really but that's all you get except for the occasional kick in the balls excuse for slapstick. Meanwhile my friend is laughing like whatever the dentist gave him never wore off and I'm wondering if it would be rude to use my cell phone light to read a book or something. He's my buddy and I love him like a brother and I try to improve his taste by introducing new things to him and... you never stop fighting even when it seems hopeless. But damn, I shouldn't have to fight this hard!

The Vietnam Memorial Wall sequence at the end of 1989's In Country also elicits lots of tears.
