Yes, most remember him as one of the vicious rapist hillbillies in Deliverance, but I've always had a liking for his gentle, deeply-felt performance as Matt Dillon's caring but irresponsible rodeo father in 1982's Tex, by far the best of the S.E. Hinton adaptations.
