I yelled at Kenny for coloring outside the lines! Megan and I are starting to watch the same TV shows. I'm liking them. I'm losing it!Jack Butler (Michael Keaton) gets let go from his job, so his wife Caroline (Teri Garr) decides to get a job herself, leaving Jack to stay home and care for the kids. Jack's not too used to domestic life.
He doesn't know where to pick up and drop off his kids at school. He's not really sure about cooking for his family. He starts projects around the house but never finishes. He's starting to watch a lot of soap operas and gain a bit of a gut. He's tempted to cheat on his wife with his neighbor, Joan (Ann Jillian). And he's got this flannel shirt that he wears around the house constantly.
Meanwhile, Caroline's working on the advertising account for Schooner Tuna ("the tuna...with heart!") and being hit on by her boss (Martin Mull). Will she leave Jack for the smarmy boss and make partner? Will Jack succumb to the whims and charms of Joan, the slut?
I like this movie quite a bit. I liked it more when I was younger, but I still think it's pretty funny and it's got the right amount of heart to it. It's also got one of the best scenes where Jack imagines being caught cheating by his wife, who shoots him. He falls to the floor, missing the tape-body outline by a few inches. He scoots over for his death scene, and it's all been a dream while he was watching "The Young And The Restless." He starts to clean up his act after that.
Funny, and probably a decent film for the entire family."Tough luck, Jeff."
