I'd have to say this film was far more effective than "American History X" in showing the viewer just what it's like to be on the receiving end of a brutal, jailhouse gang rape.First five minutes: Tom Skerrit is awkwardly reunited with daughter Juliette Lewis as he retrieves her from a group home. We catch a few flashbacks of her heinous shrew mother (Diane Keaton) forcing drunken Skerrit to sign the comittal papers. I turn on the water and feel the cold spray against my naked, vulnerable flesh.
Next five minutes: More flashbacks and Juliette runs away. I know I'm in trouble because A) the dramatic escape really shouldn't come until we've been in the theater for at least a half an hour, and B) the prisoners are bunching up behind me, leering and chattering excitedly amongst themselves.
Next hour and a half: The dialogue never stops in this movie; even the love scenes are talky and abrasive. It's bad enough this burly jailbird has his dick in the back of my throat; he doesn't need to fuckin' psychoanalyze me at the same time.
I don't believe anything that I see on screen--one of the retards is played by Juliette Lewis, and everytime I see her I think of "National Lampoon's Christmas Vaction," when she had blond hair and was actually kinda sexy. Her love interest is played by Giovanni Ribisi, the tiny-dick guy from "Suburbia." I realize now as Ribisi pants over my shoulder that the screen must take away three inches.
Diane Keaton is a whiny, sexless bitch who wears funny hats. I think of this later, when the movie is over and she's not victimizing me with a floppy, ten inch dildo anymore. Skerrit is just as bad... I used to admire the guy, actually, but he just looks old and toothy now. He smiles in the background, waiting his turn.
Final fifteen minutes: There are three separate climaxes, each one more painful than the last. My ass has stopped bleeding; I'm all out of bodily fluids. I miserably watch the blood run down the drain and wait for the credits to roll.Ahhhh... Requisite happy ending, a few credits, someone hand me a towel while I rewind the tape. I'm gonna go take a bath.
