By 1984 drug humor was on the way out, so the boys did this mediocre PG-rated non-drug spoof. It was their last C&C feature and bombed pretty badly. In a loose treatment of the Alexandre Dumas tale, C&C play twins who feel each other's pain, which allows for one or two good gags. As the revolutionary brother, Chong wears his long hair swept back in a ponytail and his beard neatly trimmed, and speaks in heroic tones; he's surprisingly dashing and physically graceful. Cheech, however, does the usual Cheech stuff, which has the effect of making you nostalgic for the old C&C.
They deserve credit for trying something different, but after a while it becomes an endurance test, with lots of gratuitous homophobic jokes.Cheech does some great Chuck Berry moves near the end, but it's too late.
