Comedy, intrigue, suspense, Steve Buscemi... this movie has it all and then some. The Impostors is a refreshingly original comedy about two struggling actors, played by Stanley Tucci and Oliver Platt, who stumble into trouble and find themsevles on a cruise ship full of nut cases. On a side note, this film was written and directed by actor turned writer/director (or writer/director turned actor) Tucci, who you may recognize as the cheating husband in the Daytrippers, and probably some other films, none of which I've seen.
For the bulk of the movie, Arthur and Maurice (Tucci and Platt) are trying to conceal their identities from the authorities, who are after them for allegedly beating up a "real" actor, all the while trying to save the ship from exploding. Better than the Love Boat, this cruise has cross-dressers, a homosexual arm-wresting champion, and a sheik who gets off on French operatic music. Oh yeah, it also has a suicidal lounge singer named Happy Franks, played by everyone's favorite (or at least mine) Steve Buscemi.
This movie is a romping-good time and you need to see it. There's a pant-load of great actors in it too, some of which include Lili Taylor, Campbell Scott, Isabella Rosellini, and even America's number one dad, Woody Allen.
I give it 4 slaps, bitch.Make sure you see this film on the big screen, for the full effect. Not really, but you really should go see this movie anyhow.
