"The Best Sequel OF THIS SERIES, Which Is Not Saying Much"
4 stars

I remember back in 1992, when this movie came out, my mom took me to see it. I was thrilled to see Batman for the first time, and film didn't disappoint either, probably because I was just a 10-year-old brat. Then I got older and watched it again a few more times, it still didn't disappoint. But there were a few flaws I noticed. Well, what do you MOSTLY AND TRUTHFULLY expect from a sequel, that is taking off the great sequels of The Godfather, Star Wars and Indiana Jones?

The movie wasn't bad, as is said, it was cool, but still the script was kind of going nowhere, but at the end it worked out in a good way.

OK, so we see, thanks to the opening scenes, on how the penguin is angry at the people at Gotham City, because he thinks that they are the ones responsible for his living in the sewers (thatís thanks to his parents). Then he joins forces with Max Schreck to promote him as mayor. the Penguin using Max, so he can be mayor and then destroy the city. Sounds pretty dumb but it still works to a certain point. But then Batman comes to the rescue, and at times relying on a mysterious villain named Catwoman.

Now supposedly Selina Kyle finds out something wrong in the secret files of Max's plans, and she gets thrown of into a window, and dies. Or does she, soon, from my point of view, she is "poisoned" by these cats that wander around her that she comes back to life and turns into the CATWOMAN. I personally thought that was a major flaw. Hell, if somebody throws you from a window like 15 or 10 floors down, youíre probably fucking dead for sure. I would have kind of bought it if it was 2 or three floors down, but 10 or 15, give me a break, itís simply not believable. That of course does not include the nine lives thing; I'll go okay with that if we take in account the fantasy of it, even though itís a bit extreme.

Now why the hell does she want to kill or seduce or whatever the fuck she's trying to do with Batman? Thatís another part that I didn't get, which leaves me to think that she was doing it just for the fuck of it. After that she joins the Penguin in his quest to destroy Gotham City, for what? These points are key to the scripts temporarily blindness, and its just in the movie as a simple "fill in." I think they should have worked a little bit more on the Catwoman part.

Michael Keaton, as always, delivers the performance that basically defines the original Batman. Danny De Vito was great as the Penguin, and let's say that Michele Pfeiffer as the Catwoman was okay too. Christopher Walken wasn't that great, but he was okay, even though he would have been better (remember the Deer Hunter?).

In the end, those little flaws may question the films' quality, but you won't be that much disappointed. I'd still recommend you to watch this film from the BURTON ERA. By the way, those penguins with rockets were cool. 3.5-5
