I'm in the Midwest, Missouri to be exact, and right now, it's snowing outside. That makes it perfect video weather. Who wants to get out in weather like this anyway. Call the pizza delivery guy! Grab your mouse and sit back, relax and find out what's hitting home video shelves this coming Tuesday January 27, 2004.
A Disney classic is re-visited on DVD this coming Tuesday. The 1951 classic Alice In Wonderland: Platinum Edition hits video store shelves and it's packed with tons of extra goodies that all the little ones are sure to enjoy. Now I don't mean to sound like a commercial, but, I really enjoy the old Disney classics and I think the features on this DVD are worth mentioning.

Virtual Wonderland Party activities including riddles, silly song & dance, Teapot orchestra, Mad Hatter Says, and other games and stories.

Titles that will get more notice than others I'm going to mention this week will include some really bad films, and well, some that aren't so bad, but not really great.
House Of The Dead hits home video this week, and it's got to be one of the worst attempts at a horror film I've seen in quite some time. This thing has no plot, no substance of any kind, but several boobies flying around. Not even that can save this sucker. When my better half can watch a supposed horror film, and just sit there and laugh, trust me, it sucks.

Also on Tuesday, we get Cuba Gooding Jr. starring in Radio. I myself found this to be somewhat of a likeable film. It wasn't that great, but, if you want to kill a couple of hours in front of the TV, this film is worth a watch. Gooding plays a developmentally challenged young man whom a local football coach takes under his care and tutelage. The appeal of this film for me was the fact that it's based on a true story.
This is probably the largest title that folks will recognize this week, others mentioned below tend to be a bit on the discreet side.

In the film Le Divorce, Isabel (Hudson) heads to Paris to help out her pregnant stepsister (Watts), and arrives to find that her husband (Poupaud) has abandoned her. Deciding not to cave to les ennuis, the sisters hit the Paris social scene, where they attend parties where natives and expatriates mingle. Cross-cultural romances and hijinx ensue.
From what I can see of this film, I'd have to agree with our staffs reviews of this title it sorta sucks.

Now if you are looking for something a little different to watch this week, let me make a couple of suggestions for your home rental needs.
Whale Rider is just a darn good film period. It's unique in it's story, and that's what I think you'll like about it. Staffers agree with me, you won't want to miss this title. Also, I'd like to suggest a title called Devil's Pond. It's got a solid story line, and will keep you interested. These are a couple of the more obscure titles that should not go unnoticed. Check'em out, you'll be glad you did.
