Of particular interest to Scott, this.
It's the Doctor Who spin-off filled with more gay sex than you can shake Russell T Davies at. Trashy, but fun.
I say Scott will be interested in this because I noticed on your facebook page you're friends with one of the writers on the show - pretty cool! _________________ "We hate the French! I've heard intriguing rumors that the second season is actually looking good. Which would be a tremendous improvement on the first, where very little seemed to actually happen. _________________ Blogs: Jay's Movie Blog, Transplanted Life, The Trading Post |

Well, even less happened in the season premiere, although it was James Marsters doing the nothing happening, so it was pretty damn cool. I hope he returns, which it looks like he will.
And you'd think with Torchwood supplying 13 England-based adventures a year (plus whatever Sarah Jane's up to), you'd think Davies could actually let the Doctor do stuff on another freaking planet for a change. |

Amen to that, Dave. Well, it was Scott's bud's episode last night - and pretty good it was too. He obviously likes his Terminator films _________________ "We hate the French! We need more people on the boards. That should have drawn a response from angry Welshmen within a couple hours. _________________ Blogs: Jay's Movie Blog, Transplanted Life, The Trading Post |

Blah. I meant to write "UK-based," not because of the Torchwood/Wales thing, but because Doctor Who does manage to spread its plots around the whole damn empire... and then I had England on my mind because of Bartley's "British accents" comment. But you knew what I meant.
And last night's show was awesome. (Except for the cheesy final scene. As soon as I saw Jack at his desk, I had a little Joel Hodgson voice pop in my mind saying, in 70s cop show narrator manner, "EPILOGUE!") If they can keep this up, it'll be a damn fine year. |

The most recent episode to air on BBC America may well be must-see for movie lovers. Entitled "From Out of the Rain," it embraces cool old movie houses and the concept of immortality as offered by the medium of film. Also, it is just a cool story done well.
To me, the first season was a bit uneven, but I haven't missed a single episode of season two. It's not always perfect, but I love it anyway. |

Huh. This was the first episode of series 2 that felt like a refugee from series 1 to me, and that's not exactly a compliment.
Still, the rest of series 2 has been pretty terrific; I just wish Comcast would either give me HDNet or the HD BBC America channel that BBCA was advertising as coming soon last year, and the digital tier this is on looks bad to begin with and my DVR really brutalizes it for some reason. _________________ Blogs: Jay's Movie Blog, Transplanted Life, The Trading Post |

HD Net finally ran the movie palace episode last week, which was good. Last night's ep - "Gwen hunts for missing people" - was probably the best the series has offered. Haunting stuff. |

Oh, it's definitely the best Torchwood has ever been. Is it showing concurrently in America? There's things definitely worth discussing if it is. _________________ "We hate the French! I think we get it next week. Or the week after. Anyway, I gather I'll be ducking out of this thread until fall, when I can pick up the blu-ray and catch up (since there's no way I could properly program the DVR to record it before leaving for Montreal). _________________ Blogs: Jay's Movie Blog, Transplanted Life, The Trading Post |
