Anyone tried this? I realize it's been in place for about a year, but they just recently broke out the Mac-compatible player for it.

Tried watching Rat Pfink a Boo Boo, in honor of the recently departed Ray Dennis Steckler, and it had terrible sound-sync problems. I mean, obviously a fault of Netflix, not the cheap-ass MOS movie. I'm running on broadband, so streaming isn't usually much of a problem.

From what I understand, several Twilight Zone episodes up on Netflix's Watch It Instantly have the same ridiculously-out-of-sync problem.

Switched over to No Country for Old Men, figuring a newer, more popular title might run smoother. That one seemed okay; still a tad stuttery, but it didn't knock the sound off-sync.

I would say the folks who prophesy the death of physical media in favor of streaming HD movies/TV shouldn't hold their breath. As has been pointed out, the infrastructure just isn't there yet to accommodate the necessary bandwidth. It's gonna be a while yet.

We got the Roku box, and I love it! Every once in a great while the lips will be out of sync with the sound. It is usually fixed by pausing and starting again. The picture is near DVD quality on the TV. They have more and more this season shows on after they play live. The available movies are getting better and better. I canceled most of my cable channels and leave my home entertainment to Netflix.

I've honestly never had a noticeable issue. That's on a PC or through Xbox 360. Everything's always been nice and fast, quality is nice, and I've never had any real audio problems. My girlfriend actually uses it more than I do (I work nights, she's home), and she's never really said anything, so I can only assume it's been as good for her as it was for me.

There have been noticeable increases in quality since it launched for PC, and I would expect the Mac support would have to go through the same growing pains (a sad reality with anything "free" from a for-profit company, I think). Give it some time, and I imagine they'll iron out the kinks.

From what I've gathered, Netflix was late in introducing Mac compatibility, so, as Matt says, expect the growing pains. As a PC guy, I've never had a single problem with it.
