I HATE the whole new wave of horror flicks that have been coming out, Scream and the like, but this film seriously made my heart run.The story: three student film makers (from a community college near me!) head up to Burkittsville, Maryland to shoot a documentary about the Blair Witch in 1994, but they never came back. A year later their footage and notes were discovered underneath a 100 year old cabin in the woods, and after police investigation the footage was finally released. This movie is that footage.
The movie was filmed entirely on Hi8, 16m, and dat. It really feels like you're in the woods behind the camera. This movie did such an incredible job of making me feel like i was out there with them, and made me really hate the characters when they did something stupid, and really sympathize with them when they had break-downs. Well maybe i'm just praising this so much because i've just seen a slew of movies i hated and i just really got into this one.
But wait a second dave, is this like actual footage, did these kids really dissappear, or is this just a completely new way of doing horror movies? Well, i ain't telling. That'd be a spoiler either way. One thing i will tell you though, if you can get into this movie at all, even a little bit, you won't be dissappointed. Just don't take any kids to this movie, in fact no one under 13 would be good.Just imagine you're with them, and i swear you'll enjoy it :)
