A heartwarming tale of a boy and his pet robot from outer space. With a nice story and great animation, Iron Giant is the kind of kids' movie adults can enjoy and kids won't completely miss the point of.Iron Giant is really one of the better animated "kids" films in the last decade. Its' what kids movies should be, teaching good morals like "guns kill" and "don't trust the government," while having an actual story and great animation to keep adults entertained. Another good thing is there were no lame catch phrases that kids will want to repeat over and over again until their guardians wished they had used a condom.
The movie is about this huge robot (although his relative size seemed to change a tad here and there but i'm not one to nit-pick movies) who crashes into earth. While chomping on a power station (not the brightest robot in the bunch) he is saved by a little boy (Eli Marienthal) who befriends the giant. Not long after, a federal investigator (Harry Connick Jr.) is sent up to see what's been eating all the cars. I'll stop there so as not to spoil any of the fun.
Jennifer Aniston also does a voice, but i never really noticed any of the popular voice actors. The exception being John Mahoney, the dad on Fraiser playing the army general.
I noticed another reviewer complaining a lot about the poor marketing and insulting people for not seeing it. Well, perhaps WB didn't market this movie as much as they could have, but i noticed a bunch of commercials for it during some cartoons, so i think they're probably reaching their target audience for this movie. I just really think we need more good movies that teach kids decent morals, so we can phase out all the organized religion that's spreading around like a virus :PThis is a kids' movie, i won't lie to you, but i think if you give it a chance you'll like it just as much as any kid.
