A coming of age story where I actually care about the teenager involved :)I think one of the things i like most about this movie is the cinematography. i love how everything just moves along. i also love the story. Jason Schwartzman is great as Max Fischer, a 15 year old boy attending Rushmore academy. He falls in love with a 1st grade teacher, as does Bill Murray's character, who is somewhat of a mentor to Max. The high's and lows makes it the kind of movie you just imagine yourself being in, assuming you were a teenager at some point in your life.
Also the soundtrack is incredible. Chock full of music i like but never actually owned. It consists mainly of british invasion bands, the kinks, the who, the faes. All that backed by Mark Mothersbaugh's original score, which is always fun.
It's a real shame that out of all the theatres in the D.C. area, almost all of them chose to carry mel gibson's payback movie, while only 4 currently have Rushmore. I hope this movie gets the credit it deserves soon.Great movie with characters unlike any other :)
