Wildly popular in the UK but only a modest cult success in the U.S., the Mr. Bean television show was supposedly ripe for a spin off into the world of film.

So why doesn't it work?

Perhaps seeing Rowan Atkinson doing his thing for 90 miutes is too much. Perhaps it's the flimsy plot. Perhaps it's the shaky (Burt Reynolds?) supporting cast.

Honestly, I don't know. Something was missing from the film, something that give the show it's humor and heart but was nowhere to be found in the feature.

Disappointing, to say the least.
